Ever since I became Mrs McLaren in 1976, when I’ve told people my name they’ve often jokingly asked me if I was related to the Formula One motor racing Team McLaren.

Until about a year ago I would always reply along the lines of “I wish”. Meaning, of course, that I wished I had that kind of money.

But I recently realized that for some time now I’ve no longer been saying that.

Of course I’m nowhere near the “other” Team McLaren in terms of fame or wealth but nor do I want to be.

What I AM is wealthy beyond the wildest dreams of someone who used to be a freelance translator struggling to make a living.
